Tirupati: In a shocking case of harassment, Sullurpet police in Tirupati district have arrested two recovery agents accused of tormenting a young woman over unpaid loan EMIs. District SP Subbarayudu shared details of the case during a press briefing.
The victim, a software engineer from Sullurpet working in Hyderabad, had taken a loan six months ago via the Finable app. After failing to pay the EMI on time, she was subjected to severe harassment by recovery agents. They threatened to morph her photos into inappropriate images and post them on social media.
The agents escalated their harassment by contacting her parents and relatives, blaming them for the unpaid loan. Disturbingly, they also sent explicit photos to her brother, further traumatizing the family. Unable to bear the mental anguish, the young woman approached the police for help.
Acting swiftly, the police arrested the two accused recovery agents and registered a cybercrime case against the Finable Loan App. SP Subbarayudu urged the public to exercise caution when borrowing from non-banking financial companies and remain vigilant against cybercrimes.
