Hyderabad: A tragic incident has shaken Nacharam, Hyderabad, after a research student at the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Pulivarthy Deepti (28), ended her life due to harassment over a financial dispute. The incident has led to the arrest of three individuals, while others remain absconding.
Deepti, a resident of Bapujinagar Saraswati Colony, was working as a project assistant at IICT. Her father, retired IICT employee Sangeetha Rao, allegedly took ₹15 lakh two years ago from constable Bella Anil and his wife Anita, promising a job for Anita at IICT. When the promised job did not materialize, Anil and Anita began harassing Deepti for repayment.
Deepti reportedly explained that she had no involvement in the financial dealings, but Anil persisted, filing both a police complaint and a civil suit against her and her father. Overwhelmed by the pressure and false accusations, Deepti tragically took her own life on Wednesday night, leaving behind a selfie video blaming Anil, Anita, and Anita’s father Somayya for her death.
Nacharam police have arrested Anita, Somayya, and Deepti’s father, Sangeetha Rao, while Anita’s husband Anil and another individual, Saidulu, are absconding. Police are investigating based on the complaint filed by Deepti’s mother.
