Vijayawada: Former Vice President of India, Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu, hailed the Amaravati Movement as an essential life lesson during a speech at the Swarna Bharat Trust, Atkur. Speaking to youth who completed self-employment training, Naidu highlighted the immense sacrifices made by farmers, women, and other communities in Amaravati.
Naidu praised the peaceful movement, saying, “The farmers, women, and communities who generously donated land for Amaravati’s capital engaged in a peaceful struggle for 1,631 days, marking it as the most remarkable and harmonious movement since the freedom struggle. Despite numerous challenges, their relentless efforts resulted in the allocation of 33,000 acres for the capital following the Chief Minister’s announcement.”
Stressing the need for a centralized capital, Naidu stated, “A state without a capital is like a headless body. I trust Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will develop all regions of the state. The capital must be in one place to ensure seamless coordination between the legislature and governance. While development should be decentralized, the capital should serve as a central hub, interconnected with all districts for equitable growth.”
Venkaiah Naidu also encouraged youth to enter politics after establishing their careers, emphasizing their potential to bring honesty and integrity to the political landscape. He warned against corrupt leaders and urged the public to hold them accountable at the polls, reflecting recent election results.
