Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the status of DSC 2024, approving the Mega DSC file with his first signature after assuming office at the AP Secretariat on Thursday.

Under the Department of School Education, Andhra Pradesh has 61,755 institutions, including government and other management institutions, serving a total of 81,59,400 students. The previous government notified only 6,100 vacancies, which led to significant discontent among job aspirants, as 4,72,487 candidates registered, leaving a gap for an additional 10,247 vacancies.

In a major move, the current government proposed a total of 16,347 vacancies to the Finance Department, 2.5 times more than the previous government’s notification. On its first day, the new administration focused on addressing job vacancies by converting existing contract jobs to regular posts and creating new ones, aiming to generate a total of 24,515 jobs in the school education sector.

The earlier government issued notifications for various positions, including 2,280 Secondary Grade Teachers, 3,563 School Assistants and equivalents, 215 Post Graduate Teachers, and 42 Principals. These vacancies were distributed across departments such as Tribal Welfare (1,023), BC Welfare (170), Social Welfare (386), and School Education (4,521).

Additionally, the new government has identified more categories for notification. This includes 612 vacancies for Hostel Welfare Officers and 2,962 vacancies for Secondary Grade Teachers (SGT) as per the Supreme Court order. Converting the existing Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) contract posts into regular posts will create 4,594 jobs.
