
Amaravati: Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav presented the Andhra Pradesh Budget 2025-26 in the Legislative Assembly, unveiling a ₹3.22 lakh crore budget, the first full-fledged budget of the coalition government. The budget focuses on agriculture, welfare, infrastructure, and Amaravati’s development, with a revenue expenditure of ₹2,51,162 crore and capital expenditure of ₹40,635 crore.
Key Allocations
- ₹48,000 crore for agriculture, including ₹6,300 crore for Annadata Sukhibhava
- ₹6,705 crore for Polavaram project, the lifeline of AP
- ₹31,805 crore for school education, ₹2,506 crore for higher education
- ₹19,264 crore for medical, health, and family welfare
- ₹18,847 crore for Panchayat Raj development
- ₹13,862 crore for municipal and urban development
- ₹18,019 crore for water resources
- ₹13,600 crore for energy sector
- ₹8,570 crore for Home Affairs
Emphasis on Amaravati as Capital
Minister Payyavula Keshav reiterated that Amaravati remains AP’s public capital, comparing its significance to Mumbai for Maharashtra and Hyderabad for Telangana. He emphasized that with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s support, Amaravati will be developed on par with major metropolitan cities.
Despite fiscal challenges, the government remains committed to welfare and development, ensuring a strong financial roadmap for the state.
