Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a revision of property registration values across urban and rural areas starting February 1. Special Principal Secretary RP Pisodia has directed the Commissioner of Stamps and Registrations to implement the revised values based on market rates.
The revision could lead to an increase or decrease in property values depending on the location. Anticipating a rise in registration costs, property transactions have surged across the state, with Guntur witnessing late-night registrations as citizens rush to complete formalities before the new rates take effect.
As per existing rules, urban property values are revised annually on August 1, while rural areas undergo changes every two years. However, the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government had imposed a special revision, increasing property values, which was seen as a financial burden on buyers. In response, the coalition government has now opted for a more balanced revision.
With the new registration values set to take effect from February 1, officials urge citizens to stay updated on the revised rates before proceeding with property transactions.
