Tungabhadra: Andhra Pradesh Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu has expressed concerns over the mismanagement of projects, attributing the issues to the previous YSRCP government’s negligence in allocating funds for proper maintenance. The minister, accompanied by Minister Payyavula Keshav, inspected the Tungabhadra Dam this morning.
During the inspection, the ministers announced plans to install a stopplug gate at the dam as soon as possible. Minister Payyavula Keshav also mentioned that future activities regarding the dam’s maintenance and strength would be discussed with experts. The ministers plan to review the dam’s structural integrity and necessary repairs with officials.
This visit comes in the wake of the 19th gate of the Tungabhadra project being washed away due to recent floods, causing lakhs of cusecs of water to be wasted over three days. Officials are currently working on installing a temporary gate to control the floodwaters. Meanwhile, the Karnataka Chief Minister is also expected to visit the Tungabhadra Dam today to assess the situation.
