Amaravati: Harish Kumar Gupta assumed charge as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Andhra Pradesh and outlined his priorities for the state’s law enforcement. Speaking to the media, he emphasized that posting obscene content on social media has escalated into an organized crime, and the police department will adopt a special focus on tackling cybercrimes.

Gupta expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for entrusting him with the responsibility of DGP and reiterated his commitment to achieving the state’s goals for 2047. He highlighted the critical role of the police department in fulfilling these ambitious targets.

The new DGP discussed several key initiatives taken in the past seven months, including the installation of CCTV cameras throughout the state. He assured that special attention would be given to maximizing their utility and integrating them with the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) to help identify criminals quickly. Additionally, the establishment of cybercrime police stations in every district is a part of the plan to combat rising online crimes.
