
Delhi: The Union Budget 2025 has introduced several measures to boost various sectors while providing tax relief to individuals earning up to ₹12 lakh annually. Key highlights include increased financial support for MSMEs, expanded Kisan Credit Card (KCC) limits, and tax exemptions on critical medicines.
Tax & Financial Relief
The budget provides significant relief for senior citizens, raising the TDS exemption on interest income from ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh. Additionally, the tax exemption limit on rental income has increased from ₹2.4 lakh to ₹6 lakh.
Healthcare & Medicines
The government has removed customs duties on 36 life-saving drugs, including those for cancer and rare diseases. Moreover, 37 new medicines have been added to the Patient Assistance Program. A nationwide network of day-care cancer centers will also be established.
Support for Gig Workers
With gig workers expected to reach 3 crore by 2030, the government will provide health insurance under PM Jan Arogya Yojana and ensure registration via the e-Shram portal.
MSME & Startup Boost
The MSME loan limit has been increased from ₹5 crore to ₹10 crore, while startups can now avail loans up to ₹20 crore. Additionally, a ₹10,000 crore startup fund has been introduced.
Infrastructure & Tourism Development
The government will enhance air connectivity under the UDAN scheme, expanding to 120 new routes. Efforts to develop the top 50 tourist destinations and promote medical tourism are also in progress.
Manufacturing & Energy Sector
A National Manufacturing Mission will be launched to strengthen ‘Make in India’ initiatives, with plans for new urea plants, solar PV cell production, and battery manufacturing.
Jal Jeevan Mission & Housing Projects
The Jal Jeevan Mission has been extended until 2028 with a ₹67,000 crore allocation. Additionally, ₹15,000 crore has been set aside for completing stalled housing projects.
