Machilipatnam: The anticipatory bail petition filed by Jayasudha, wife of former minister Perni Nani, has reached its final stage in court. The matter revolves around a warehouse rented by Perni Nani in Machilipatnam under his wife’s name for Civil Supplies Corporation.
The controversy erupted when 3,708 sacks of ration rice stored in the warehouse reportedly went missing. Following this, officials from the Civil Supplies Department lodged a complaint with the police. Consequently, a case was registered at the Machilipatnam Taluka Police Station, naming Jayasudha and the warehouse manager, Manas Teja, as accused.
In an effort to avoid arrest, Jayasudha filed an anticipatory bail plea in the Machilipatnam 9th Additional District Judge Court. Senior advocate Varadarajulu argued on her behalf, while Special Public Prosecutor Lanke Venkateswara Rao represented the government. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court has reserved its judgment and is set to issue its decision on December 30.
The case has garnered significant public attention due to its implications on the management of Civil Supplies and accountability in government-related operations.
