Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced the repeal of the Non-Agricultural Land (NALA) Act, citing it as a major obstacle to development. Speaking at the conclusion of the Collectors’ Conference, he emphasized that any law hindering progress will be removed.
“NALA has become a major problem, forcing people to visit multiple offices and turning into a center for money collection. Registrations are being halted due to this,” Naidu stated. He assured that the issue would be discussed in the upcoming cabinet meeting, and if necessary, an ordinance would be issued. Additionally, a one-time settlement scheme will be introduced for pending dues, with charges applied based on the application date’s prevailing rate. Interest and penalties will also be waived.
The CM stressed the need for collectors to work at the field level, encouraging them to take a proactive leadership role. He revealed that investments worth ₹7 lakh crore have been secured and instructed officials to ensure real-time approvals for industries.
In district-wise growth rate rankings for 2024-25, Alluri Sitaramaraju district led with 21.19%, followed by Parvathipuram Manyam at 16.9%. The state’s overall growth rate was recorded at 12.02%.
