Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu conducted a high-level review meeting on Friday to assess preparedness for Cyclone Fengal. The meeting, attended by officials from the Disaster Management Department, district collectors, the CMO, and Real-Time Governance officials, focused on ensuring a state of readiness across all levels of governance.

The CM directed officials to remain vigilant, continuously assess the situation, and take immediate action to mitigate the cyclone’s impact. “The government machinery must act swiftly and decisively to ensure the safety of people in affected areas,” he emphasized.

Cyclone Fengal’s Trajectory and Impact
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the severe air system in the southwest Bay of Bengal intensified into a cyclone on Friday afternoon, named Fengal. The cyclone is expected to move west-northwestward and make landfall between Karaikal (Puducherry) and Mahabalipuram (Tamil Nadu) by Saturday afternoon.

KVS Srinivasa Rao, in-charge director of the Visakha Cyclone Warning Center, warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Andhra Pradesh, especially in Nellore, Tirupati, Chittoor, Annamayya, and YSR districts. Sudden floods in low-lying areas are a possibility, requiring timely action.
