Hyderabad: Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy criticized the previous government for plunging the power sector into debt during a debate on taxes in the Legislative Assembly. He emphasized his efforts to rescue the power sector from its financial woes and called former minister Jagadish Reddy’s criticism of the Chief Minister inappropriate.
Reddy highlighted the responsibility to inform the public about the previous government’s mistakes, stating that the UPA government had allocated extra power to Telangana during the state’s bifurcation based on needs rather than population. He questioned the status of the opposition leader and pointed out the irregularities in the Yadadri power plant project, which remains incomplete despite an expenditure of Rs. 11,000 crore. He also questioned why a power plant mandated by the partition law to be set up in Ramagundam was instead built in Yadadri.
A heated debate ensued in the Assembly, with Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy accusing Jagadish Reddy of involvement in multiple murder and theft cases. Jagadish Reddy refuted these allegations, challenging Komatireddy to prove them. He pledged to resign and leave the house if the allegations were proven true and demanded that Komatireddy Venkatreddy and CM Revanthreddy resign if they were not.
