Amaravati: Former YSRCP MLA Daisetty Ramalingeswara Rao, known as Raja, has filed a plea for anticipatory bail in the Andhra Pradesh High Court regarding the 2019 murder case of journalist Katha Satyanarayana. Satyanarayana, a journalist associated with Andhra Jyoti, was brutally attacked and killed by assailants while riding his two-wheeler in the Tuni and Thondangi region. The Tuni Rural Police registered a case against Raja and others on October 15, 2019.
Despite Raja’s name being removed from the chargesheet filed in the trial court, he sought anticipatory bail, citing concerns of arrest. His senior counsel, O. Manohar Reddy, argued that the government is attempting to implicate him unfairly in the case. Justice VRK Kripasagar of the High Court has reserved his decision on the bail plea until November 5.
Representing the victim’s brother, senior advocate Posani Venkateswarlu countered Raja’s plea, alleging flaws in the investigation and arguing that Raja should not be granted anticipatory bail. He emphasized the absence of reasonable grounds for bail, reinforcing that justice for Satyanarayana remains paramount.
