Delhi: The capital city of Delhi experienced heavy rainfall on Wednesday evening, prompting the Meteorological Department to issue a red alert. The Pragathi Maidan Observatory in Central Delhi recorded an astonishing 112.5 mm of rain within just one hour, resulting in widespread flooding. Water levels rose to waist height in many areas, causing significant traffic disruptions and leading to the diversion of numerous flights due to adverse weather conditions.
Residents faced severe difficulties as roads were submerged in knee-deep water. Amidst this chaos, civil candidates continued their protest in Old Rajinder Nagar against the death of three students from Rao’s Academy, braving the relentless rain.
The Rajender Nagar area, recently the site of the tragic deaths, was once again inundated. Videos of floodwaters entering several coaching centers went viral on social media. In response, local AAP MLA Duresh Pathak visited the affected areas, where he witnessed knee-deep water. Some students, alongside local police, assisted in rescuing vehicles trapped in the floodwaters. The Aam Aadmi Party shared related videos on X, highlighting the community’s efforts during the crisis.
