Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced in the Assembly on Thursday that a High Court bench would soon be set up in Kurnool, fulfilling a key election promise. The Cabinet has already approved the proposal, and the Assembly passed a resolution to forward it to the Andhra Pradesh High Court and the Central Government.
Mr. Naidu reaffirmed that the offices of the Lokayukta and Human Rights Commission will remain in Kurnool. Highlighting the government’s commitment to balanced regional development, he said Visakhapatnam, Kurnool, and Tirupati would be further developed, noting that progress stalled under the previous administration’s three-capitals policy.
The Chief Minister emphasized the Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) track record in development, recalling TDP founder N.T. Rama Rao’s initiatives like the Telugu Ganga, Handri-Neeva, and Nagari-Galeru projects for Rayalaseema. He outlined plans for river interlinking, Polavaram’s completion, and infrastructure upgrades, such as industrial parks in Kurnool and Kadapa and a drone hub at Orvakallu.
In education, Tirupati is being developed into an education hub with IIT, IIIT, and Central University projects. Naidu also pledged support for farmers, revival of drip irrigation subsidies, and enhanced industrial growth, aiming to transform Kurnool into a leading city in Andhra Pradesh.
