Hyderabad: HYDRA Commissioner Ranganath has made a strong statement, emphasizing that the agency will not be used as a tool in political disputes. In a press briefing, Ranganath addressed concerns raised by various political figures and stated, “HYDRA does not want to become a pawn in the political chess game. Owaisi and Mallareddy are prominent figures, but we prioritize the future of students.” He acknowledged that there might have been errors in constructing college buildings on encroached lands, such as ponds, but stressed that the future of students is a higher priority.
Ranganath also mentioned that while the Non-Treatable Land (NTL) issue is significant, the agency would be cautious in its actions. “Our actions are non-partisan. If any structure, including Dharamsatra, falls within NTL, it will be demolished. HYDRA will not issue notices; it will proceed directly with demolition,” he clarified.
The commissioner’s remarks came after several BJP corporators lodged complaints at the HYDRA office on Tuesday, alleging that numerous ponds and parks in Hyderabad had been encroached upon. This has led to an increase in tensions, with the HYDRA office in Buddha Bhavan seeing a surge in complainants, including leaders from various political parties.
