Hanumakonda: The Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) on Friday demolished illegal structures belonging to Manda Krishna Madiga, founder of the 125K MMRPS, on Hunter Road.
The action follows a prolonged legal battle initiated by Namburi Charumati, who alleged that Manda Krishna, along with Jyoti and Iddaiya, encroached upon 400 yards of her land and began construction. The complaint, filed over two and a half years ago, led to an investigation by municipal authorities, which confirmed the encroachment.
In September 2022, higher officials ordered the demolition of the illegal structures. Despite the directive, no action was taken, prompting Charumati to approach the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). The NHRC intervened, instructing authorities to complete the demolition by January 24, 2025.
Manda Krishna Madiga sought relief from the High Court, attempting to overturn the NHRC’s orders, but his plea was rejected. Consequently, the municipal staff carried out the demolition on Friday, ensuring compliance with the NHRC’s directive.
This development highlights the GWMC’s commitment to upholding land rights and addressing encroachments. The incident serves as a reminder of the legal avenues available to citizens to protect their property rights.
