Hyderabad: The police investigation into the attack on Chilkur Balaji Temple’s head priest, Rangarajan, is making significant progress. Moinabad police have so far identified 22 individuals as accused in the case. Out of these, seven people, including Veeraraghavar Reddy, have been arrested, while 16 others remain absconding. Among the arrested are two women from Khammam and Nizamabad districts.

Key revelations have emerged from the remand report of the accused. Police disclosed that Veeraraghavar Reddy confessed to the crime, and they confirmed his involvement in multiple harassment cases registered at Abids, Banjara Hills, and Golconda police stations. A sexual harassment case was also filed against him at Abids Police Station.

According to the police, Reddy approached Rangarajan in January with a proposal, but after the priest refused, the accused held meetings at Penugonda Temple on the 25th and in Dammaiguda on the 4th of this month. They allegedly planned to attack him if he did not comply with their demands. On the morning of the 7th, they confronted Rangarajan at his residence and issued threats. The attack was recorded and uploaded on YouTube, further incriminating the accused.
