Hyderabad; K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), the working President of BRS, said that their government tried to make Hyderabad a “dirty water-free” city during his tenure, during an inspection of the Fatehnagar Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). Accompanied by party leaders including Sabita Indra Reddy and Thalasani Srinivas Yadav, KTR criticized the Congress government for its negligence in constructing essential sewage infrastructure.
KTR highlighted that a total of 31 STPs were built under the their administration, with an investment of ₹3,866 crores aimed at enhancing the city’s sewage treatment capacity. He expressed concern over the Congress-led beautification efforts along the Musi River, questioning the allocation of substantial funds for these initiatives while overlooking critical sewage management projects.
“Thousands and lakhs of crores are being spent on Musi beautification, raising suspicions about the true intentions behind these projects,” KTR stated. He specifically called out leaders Revant Reddy and Bhatti Vikramarka for allegedly spreading misinformation regarding double bedroom housing schemes.
Emphasizing the need for urgency, KTR demanded that the government expedite the completion of pending STP works. He also raised alarms about potential corruption related to the beautification project, claiming that tenders were being awarded to foreign companies. “When 94 percent pure water is being treated, is it really necessary to spend ₹1.5 million on re-treatment?” KTR questioned.
Looking ahead, KTR and BRS leaders are scheduled to inspect the Kukatpally STP to further assess ongoing projects and ensure timely completion.
