Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has demanded a detailed discussion in the Telangana Legislative Assembly on the allegations surrounding the Formula-E car race. In an open letter addressed to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Wednesday, KTR refuted claims of corruption and emphasized the economic and reputational benefits the race brought to the state.

KTR highlighted that the 2023 Formula-E race was successfully conducted in Hyderabad and received widespread appreciation. According to a Nielsen report, the event boosted Telangana’s economy by approximately ₹700 crores. He criticized the Congress government for canceling the 2024 race, stating that it had sacrificed a project that benefitted the state and Hyderabad city.

He accused the Congress of spreading misinformation and leaks about the race and called for transparency. “The people of the state deserve to know the facts. Let us discuss the matter in the Assembly during ongoing sessions on a day convenient for you,” KTR urged in his letter.

Meanwhile, Indian National Congress (INC) MLAs, led by Sabhapati Gaddam Prasadkumar, submitted a letter to the Legislative Assembly Secretariat on Wednesday, seeking an immediate debate on the Formula-E issue.
