Kakinada: Minister Nadendla Manohar announced a thorough cleanup of the Civil Supplies Department, emphasizing that those involved in irregularities will face legal consequences. Speaking at a media conference in Kakinada, Manohar highlighted significant corruption during the previous YSRCP regime, accusing a family of exploiting Kakinada port for illegal activities, particularly in ration rice distribution.

The minister revealed that during inspections in June, 26,000 metric tons of ration rice were seized, indicating the severity of the malpractice. He stated that the investigation into these irregularities is nearing completion and assured that no one involved would be spared.

Manohar criticized the misuse of Kakinada port, originally established to boost investments in Andhra Pradesh, by YSRCP leaders who allegedly monopolized the port for their own gain. He explained that ration rice was repackaged and exported under different names, such as Broken rice (Nukalu) and Upa rice, to foreign markets. The minister assured that strict action, including arrests and legal proceedings, would be taken against those responsible.

In addition to addressing the corruption, Manohar also pledged to resolve the issues faced by porters and employees working at Kakinada port.
