Austin, USA: Minister of State for Education, IT, and Electronics Nara Lokesh visited Tesla’s headquarters in Austin, aiming to attract investment from the global electric vehicle leader for Andhra Pradesh. In a meeting with Tesla’s Chief Sustainability Officer Vaibhav Taneja, Minister Lokesh highlighted the state’s strategic location, particularly Anantapur district, for establishing EV manufacturing and battery production units.
Taneja emphasized Tesla’s position as a pioneer in electric vehicles, clean energy solutions, and battery storage, reporting an impressive 18.8% growth last year, generating $97 billion in revenue. Minister Lokesh reiterated Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to renewable energy, targeting 72 GW of generation by 2029 under the visionary leadership of Chandrababu Naidu.
He noted the state’s previous successes in attracting automobile companies like Kia and Hero Motors and underscored the importance of global partnerships with firms like Tesla to advance electric vehicle manufacturing and green energy initiatives. Lokesh invited Tesla to collaborate on solar energy storage systems and EV charging networks, particularly in smart cities and rural electrification projects. He also proposed the establishment of technology parks in Andhra Pradesh, aimed at fostering innovation and sustainable energy solutions.
