Bibinagar: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to virtually inaugurate a groundbreaking drone medical services project at the Bibinagar AIIMS on Tuesday. This initiative, a collaboration between Bibinagar AIIMS and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), will be launched from the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in Delhi, according to AIIMS Director Dr. Vikas Bhatia.
The drone services aim to enhance healthcare accessibility for tuberculosis (TB) patients, particularly in remote areas. Currently, TB suspects must travel to the district central hospital for testing, which is time-consuming and inefficient. The new system will allow health workers to collect samples at Primary Health Centers (PHCs) and send them to the district lab via drones, significantly speeding up the testing process. Selected PHCs, including Kondamadugu, Bommalaramaram, and Bollepalli, will be involved in this service. Results from TB tests will be available within just 30 minutes, and medications will also be delivered through drones based on these results. This innovative approach will extend medical services to remote villages in Ramannapet mandal, located 70 to 80 km from the district lab.
