Adilabad: The Backward Classes (BC) Commission of Telangana, led by Chairman G. Niranjan, has announced the completion of an extensive social, economic, and political survey by December 9, with a detailed report in progress. During an event in Adilabad on Monday, Niranjan, along with BC Commission members Jayaprakash Rapolu, Tirumala Surender, and Balalakshmi, began receiving applications for local body reservations based on population ratios. Leaders from BC and non-BC communities submitted a total of 90 applications.
Residents interested in submitting further applications can do so at the BC Commission office in the Jalmandali Building, Hyderabad-Khairatabad, either by mail or in person. The state has deployed 80,000 to 90,000 enumerators to conduct door-to-door surveys starting November 4, aiming for a 15-day data collection window, followed by a two-week data entry phase.
The Commission is addressing demands to implement 42% BC reservations, as well as requests from parties like MIM for reclassification within groups A, B, C, and D. Efforts are underway to ensure this survey meets legal standards, avoiding issues like those seen with Gujarat’s caste survey. Adjustments in current reservation structures are anticipated based on survey findings.
