Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh state government has scheduled the presentation of its full budget in the Legislative Assembly for November 11. Ahead of this significant event, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu conducted a high-level review on the state’s financial situation, revenue strategies, and budget priorities. The meeting, held on Monday, included key officials such as Chief Secretary Nirabkumar Prasad, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav, and Finance Principal Secretary Piyush Kumar, alongside senior officers from revenue departments.

Upon taking office, the coalition government issued a white paper highlighting the state’s financial challenges and committed to gradually addressing the debt, improving revenue, and driving development. Reviewing these goals, the Chief Minister examined the feasibility of achieving a revenue target of Rs 2 lakh crore, a significant increase from last year’s Rs 1,73,766 crore.

Discussions focused on revenue-generating departments, including Excise, Commercial Taxes, and Revenue Registration, where officials assessed the impact of new policies. Finance Principal Secretary Piyush Kumar presented the latest economic data, covering revenue status, welfare schemes, and expenditure priorities. The session concluded with a review of the state’s pending bills and strategies to address financial gaps for ongoing programs.
