Hyderabad: BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Panchayati Raj Minister Seethakka have called on comprehensive correctional officers to end their ongoing strike, emphasizing the adverse impact on students, particularly those in KGBVs (Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas). The ministers held discussions with strike leaders at the Secretariat on Monday, urging them to prioritize the welfare of poor children affected by the stalemate.
The ministers assured that a meeting with the sub-committee, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, would be convened to address their demands once the strike is called off. They also promised to resolve non-financial issues like maternity leave and casual leave (CL) for women employees to the extent possible. Financial demands, they stated, would be examined further in the sub-committee discussions.
Key participants in the meeting included Planning Commission Vice President Chinnareddy, MLC Kodandaram, MLA Medipalli Satyam, State Project Director for Comprehensive Education EV Narasimha Reddy, and other leaders.
Controversy arose over the involvement of a government teacher in the meeting, who has allegedly been neglecting school duties for two years and frequently visiting offices of the Directorate of School Education and ministers.
