Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh has introduced major reforms in intermediate education, focusing on curriculum changes and academic calendar restructuring. The decisions were taken during a meeting of the Intermediate Board, chaired by the minister.
As part of the reforms, Mathematics A and B will now be considered as a single subject, and Botany and Zoology will also be merged. Additionally, the M.Bi.PC course has been approved for junior colleges.
From the 2025-26 academic year, government junior colleges will follow a revised schedule to provide a competitive alternative to private institutions. Starting this year, government junior colleges will commence classes from April 1 instead of June 1, while first-year admissions will begin from April 7 instead of June 1.
Another significant change is the rescheduling of annual exams. From the 2025-26 academic year, intermediate first and second-year examinations will be held from the last week of February, instead of the usual March schedule.
Minister Lokesh emphasized that these changes aim to enhance student preparedness and bring uniformity in academic planning across all institutions.
