Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government is set to launch the P-4 (Public, Philanthropic, People Participation) system by Ugadi, aiming to uplift underprivileged sections of society. This initiative, alongside existing welfare schemes, is expected to provide greater support to economically weaker families.

During a review meeting on P-4 and family empowerment-benefit management, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the need for structured and sustainable policies to ensure that affluent families contribute to the well-being of the less privileged. Officials informed the CM that the verification process for five lakh families will be completed by August.

As part of a pilot project, P-4 will be implemented in four villages, benefiting 5,869 families. The scheme excludes families owning two acres of wetland or five acres of dryland, government employees, income tax payers, four-wheeler owners, and those owning properties in municipal areas. This ensures that benefits reach only the truly eligible families.

An initial survey suggests that 40 lakh families may qualify. A household survey is currently underway across 10 districts, set to finish by March 2, with the second phase covering 16 districts by March 18. The collected data will be integrated into Samridhi Bandhanam for efficient benefit distribution.
