Vijayawada: The state government has announced the introduction of ‘Talliki Vandanam,’ a financial support scheme for every child in a family. HRD Minister Nara Lokesh confirmed this initiative, stating that guidelines would be established after consulting with stakeholders.

During a legislative council session, Lokesh criticized the YSRCP government for failing to fulfill its ‘Amma-Vodi’ promise. He pointed out that the previous administration had restricted the benefits and imposed eligibility criteria, thereby reducing the number of beneficiaries.

Lokesh highlighted that before the 2019 elections, the YSRCP had promised ‘Amma-Vodi’ assistance to every child but later limited it to one child per family, decreasing the amount from Rs. 14,000 to Rs. 13,000. He also noted that criteria such as power bills and vehicle ownership disqualified many eligible poor families.

The NDA government, Lokesh stated, is committed to providing Rs. 15,000 to every school-going child, with specific eligibility guidelines to be determined soon. He emphasized the goal of increasing enrollments in government schools and mentioned that the restoration of fee reimbursement for PG courses is currently under review.
