USA: In a significant policy shift, former US President Donald Trump has overturned a decision by the Biden administration to limit arms supply to Israel. The US has now approved the delivery of 2,000-pound MK-84 bombs, also known as “Bunker Busters,” to Israel. White House sources revealed that around 1,800 bombs will be sent to Israel in the coming days, with Pentagon representatives already informing Tel Aviv of the decision.
During Biden’s tenure, the supply of these bombs was halted due to concerns about their potential use in densely populated areas in Gaza, straining relations between the two nations. Following the suspension, Israel sought alternatives, initiating domestic production and awarding contracts to defense organizations.
In recent remarks, Israel’s ambassador to the US, Mike Herzog, expressed optimism about the policy reversal under Trump. His confidence proved justified, as the US has officially decided to restore the supply of MK-84 bombs to its close ally.
This move underscores Trump’s commitment to strengthening ties with Israel and supporting its defense capabilities. The supply of these powerful bombs is expected to bolster Israel’s strategic operations in the region.
