Tadepalli: The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has criticized the coalition government for its impact on the education sector and the ongoing distress faced by students. Party spokesperson Jupudi Prabhakar Rao demanded the immediate clearance of pending fees reimbursement dues, highlighting that college managements are refusing to provide certificates to students due to delayed payments.
Rao pointed out that during the previous YSRCP government, welfare schemes, including fee reimbursements, were given top priority, with a focus on the education sector. The government allocated Rs 73,000 crore for education, of which Rs 17,000 crore was spent on Vidya Deevena and Vidya Vasathi schemes. Under the leadership of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, revolutionary changes were made, such as the introduction of English medium in schools, which the coalition government has since stopped.
Rao reminded that the previous government cleared Rs 2,800 crore of pending dues for the fees reimbursement program in 2019. From 2019 to 2024, the YSRCP government reimbursed Rs 12,609 crore and deposited Rs 26,067 crore into the bank accounts of 44.49 lakh mothers under the Amma Vodi scheme.
Party student wing president Ravichandra also emphasized the urgent need for the coalition government to clear the pending dues and prevent students from suffering further due to political conflicts.
