Mumbai:  The Mahayuti alliance, which emerged victorious in the Maharashtra assembly elections, is facing significant challenges in forming the new government. Ongoing discussions between alliance parties over the allocation of key positions, including the Chief Minister’s post and departmental responsibilities, have yet to reach a consensus, creating a sense of uncertainty in the political landscape.

A recent controversy arose after Chief Minister Eknath Shinde canceled a scheduled meeting with alliance leaders, further fueling speculation about his dissatisfaction with the ongoing negotiations. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Shirsat made sensational claims, alleging that efforts were being made to sideline Shinde in the formation of the new government. Shirsat emphasized that Shinde had played a crucial role in the alliance’s success but feared the home department, traditionally assigned to the deputy CM, might be taken away from Shinde if the BJP claims the CM post.

Despite Shinde’s meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, no final decision on the CM has been made. Shinde assured that the BJP’s decision would be fully supported, but the cancellation of the meeting raised doubts about his contentment with the developments. Speculation is rife that Shinde could make a key announcement within the next 24 hours, possibly regarding his future stance in the alliance.
