Vadodara: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India is achieving new heights in defense manufacturing, shifting from a reliance on imports to becoming an exporter. On Monday, he inaugurated the Tata Aircraft Complex in Vadodara, Gujarat, which features the final assembly line for the Airbus C-295 medium-range transport aircraft. The event was attended by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, marking the establishment of India’s first private partnership factory for this purpose.
Modi highlighted that the factory symbolizes a significant India-Spain partnership, contributing to the “Make in India for the world” initiative. He emphasized that such projects will create thousands of jobs, as the facility will manufacture 18,000 parts for the aerospace sector, providing immense opportunities for small and medium enterprises.
The Prime Minister noted the factory’s vital role in producing civil aircraft for international markets, mentioning that Indian airlines are currently purchasing 1,200 aircraft. He stressed the government’s commitment to enhancing air connectivity in smaller cities and positioning India as a global hub for aircraft maintenance and repair services. Modi also reflected on the evolution of India’s work culture since he laid the foundation stone for this project in October 2022.
