The Tamil Nadu assembly was mayhem today as the floor test started for Palaniswami. After the proceedings started, the members of legislature started protesting the proceedings. DMK members attacked the speaker who had to be escorted out by security and was adjourned till 1:00 P.M.
After the proceedings started at 1:00 P.M., it was expected that O. Panneerselvam might have gained momentum for his rebellion after Sasikala’s arrest. But Palaniswami swept the vote with 122 lawmakers in his support. The minimum required support is 117 which is half of the 233 seats in the assembly. Palaniswami gained this support without the members of DMK.
The DMK created a ruckus because of several reasons. Sasikala created a rift in the party and accused Stalin (DMK) of conspiring against the party (AIADMK) along with OPS. The DMK said that the proceedings would hurt the party even more. Also, the speaker, who is a loyalist of Sasikala denied permission for live telecast as well as declining the proposal for a secret ballot.
Stalin was seen walking out with a torn shirt which shows what AIADMK stands for now with Sasikala controlling the party. The DMK and OPS showed the state what the situation in the assembly will be until the next elections that will be happening in the state in 2021.
