Kadapa: Varra Ravindar Reddy, a social media activist from Pulivendula in YSR district, known by the moniker “Social Media Psycho,” has been detained by police for posting offensive content against prominent Andhra Pradesh leaders. Reddy, affiliated with YSRCP, reportedly made derogatory posts targeting Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, Ministers Nara Lokesh and Anita, AP Congress President YS Sharmila, and former minister Viveka’s daughter Sunitha.
Reddy faces around 30 cases registered across Pulivendula, Kadapa, Mangalagiri, Rajampet, and Hyderabad. He is also accused of insulting a Dalit, leading to an SC and ST case against him. The district SP plans to present Reddy before the media, followed by a likely court appearance in Kadapa.
This case highlights growing concerns about social media misuse and the strict legal actions taken to address it. Authorities emphasize that defamatory posts can result in legal consequences, especially when they involve public figures.
