On the 13th of October, 2,600 petrol bunks in Telangana will be part of a nationwide protest called ‘no purchase, no sales.’ The protest was called by the petroleum dealers of public sector oil companies.

The protest is to fight for their demands to bring petrol and diesel under the Goods and Services Tax. On Monday, Telangana Petroleum Dealers’ Association president Rajiv Amaram said all petrol bunks will not purchase products nor will be conducting the sale of fuels.

Around 40 company operated petrol bunks of the PSU oil company will function on the 13th of October.

Petrol and diesel has been excluded from the GST and the VAT on fuel is high in Telangana. Due to this the rates have been soaring causing many truckers to fill their fuel from Karnataka or Tamil Nadu to avoid the higher rates in the state. This has led to massive losses for the petrol bunks in Telangana.
