Hyderabad has finally been hit by monsoon rains but as everyone enjoyed the rains over the weekend the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) is predicting heavier rain.
On Monday, IMD issued a warning of heavy rains across Telangana for the next 24 hours.

Chief meteorologist with Skymet, Mahesh Palawat said, “Humid winds from the Bay of Bengal are blowing over the region and are accelerating the formation of rain bearing or cumulonimbus clouds in the city. That is the reason Hyderabad is witnessing these showers.”

Between Sunday and Monday, Skymet recorded Hyderabad rainfall as 24 mm in just 24 hours.

Mahesh also added, “As of now, the weather will remain pleasant but humid across Hyderabad and the mercury levels will continue to settle on the lower end.”

The city has already managed to surpass it monthly average rainfall on June 14th with 111.2 mm and on Monday as high as 156.5 mm.

The IMD had issued a warning for the weekend that resulted in heavy rains, clogging roads and traffic was bumper to bumper.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) deployed 140 special monsoon emergency teams at the cost of Rs. 29 crores. The 140 teams were a total of 1,600 workers that went around solving civic issues.
