The Enforcement Directorate (ED) seized at least 9 cars of Nirav Modi, the key accused in the Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam. One Porsche Panamera, 3 Honda cars, 1 Toyota Fortuner, 1 Toyota Innova, 2 Mercedes Benz and 1 Rolls Royce are the 9 cars seized from Modi. The ED further froze Modi’s Mutual funds and shares accounts worth around Rs. 7.80 crores. They also froze the same amounting to Rs. 86.72 crores belonging to Mehul Choksi. It is said, along with the cars ED also seized precious paintings owned by Modi. The precious paintings include the works of M. F. Husain, Akbar Padamsee, V. S. Gaitonde, Francis Souza, Sher Gil and Bharti Kher.
The CBI officials said they sealed a luxury property of Modi in Alibaug, Mumbai. The officials said, “The 1.5 acre farmhouse in the uber rich neighbourhood at a stone’s throw distance from the Arabian sea was purchased by Modi in 2004 for Rs. 32 crore for hosting special parties for his clientele to showcase his precious jewellery collection.” Modi’s farmhouse is located around 100 Km from Mumbai in Raigad district. It is a 12,000 sq ft bungalow with 5 bedrooms, a large swimming pool, a movie theatre and a library.
