Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau canceled a dinner invitation from Jaspal Atwal who is a convicted Khalistani terrorist. Jaspal invited the PM for a dinner reception on the 22nd of February.
This comes after Trudeau’s meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. During the meeting Captain Singh raised the issue about the Khalistani terror in the State. Jaspal was involved in an attempt to assassinate Punjab Minister Malkiat Singh Sidhu in 1986.
PM Trudeau and his six ministers met Captain Singh in Amritsar on Wednesday. The two leaders spent about an hour discussing various issues. Captain Singh gave Trudeau a list of nine Canadian based Khalistan terrorists. Singh requested Trudeau to take stern action to avoid terror attacks in Punjab.
PM Trudeau assured Singh his country has never and will never support any separatist movements in India or anywhere else.
