Amaravathi: The state government, committed to accelerating the development of Amaravati, is actively considering the Amaravati Inner Ring Road (IRR) proposal. This initiative aims to expedite capital construction projects stalled by the previous Jagan administration.
The IRR will align east of the Vijayawada East Bypass, maintaining a distance of at least 20 km. The government plans to acquire the necessary land through the land acquisition system. Under the previous TDP regime, proposals included a 180 km Outer Ring Road (ORR) and a 97.5 km Inner Ring Road (IRR) for Amaravati. These plans aim to integrate cities like Amaravati, Vijayawada, Tadepalli, and Mangalagiri, encompassing multiple villages within the Sangam, Krishna, and Guntur districts.
However, when the Jagan government took power in 2019, it halted Amaravati’s construction, blocking the ORR and IRR proposals. Currently, the Vijayawada Western Bypass is under rapid construction, and the completion of the Eastern Bypass will form a complete ring road.
Despite initial plans to shelve the IRR proposal, the state government now recognizes the potential for Amaravati, Vijayawada, Guntur, Mangalagiri, and Tadepalli to merge into a burgeoning metropolis. With rapid development in these areas, the IRR has been prioritized as a strategic initiative.
