Telangana Government Gives GHMC Till June To Cover City’s Dump Yards

The State Government has given the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) a deadline to complete soil covering of dump yards. The GHMC is tasked with covering Jawaharnagar and Fathullaguda dump yards by June this year.

The capping work will include covering 130 acres of Jawaharnagar dump yard with different materials. This will include geosynthetic clay liners, protective geotextile and geonet drainage level. The civic body will also do gas management system and leachate management system to decrease the smell.

The covering of a 130 acres dump yard is not an easy task for the GHMC. The civic body stated it is working towards meeting the State Government’s deadline.

The civic body has to complete the job before monsoon sets in to avoid the first coating process from ruining. The State Government stated the project will not cost more than Rs. 250 crores.
