Apple’s “One more thing” this year was it’s new streaming service called Apple Music, which debuts on June 30th World Wide and initially offers a 3 month free membership, after which a $9.99/month subscription fee will apply. Swift just updated and Swift 2 is now Open Source!! This is great news for the geeks who work on apps that use Apple’s work on technology and run on platforms that are owned by Apple. Swift 2 runs on iOS, OS X and Linux. Craig Federighi, Apple’s SVP of Software Engineering said that, “We think Swift is the next big programming language, the one that we’ll all be doing application and system programming on for 20 years to come,“. This is a bold and a very strategic move for Apple to befriend developers and get their time and also to make it easier to work on their platforms.
