Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, has approved a series of forward-looking policies, including the AP Drone Policy, the Data Centre Policy, and new area development authorities, aimed at enhancing technological advancement and infrastructure in the state.
Andhra Pradesh Drone Policy
The newly approved Drone Policy aims to establish Andhra Pradesh as a leading drone hub by forming a State Drone Corporation. A Drone Development Centre, equipped with training and manufacturing units, will be set up in Kurnool. The government expects this policy to attract ₹1,000 crore in investments, create 15,000 direct and 25,000 indirect jobs, and generate ₹3,000 crore in revenue annually.
Data Centre and Semiconductor Policy
The Cabinet also greenlit the AP Data Centre Policy, targeting an additional 200 MW of data center capacity. Furthermore, a new Semiconductor and Display Fab Policy will be introduced, offering subsidies to attract global tech investors to Andhra Pradesh.
Additional Approvals
The Cabinet approved amendments to the AP Goods and Services Act, as well as new regulations on Indian-made foreign liquor. The proposal to replace the 1982 Land Grabbing Act with a stricter 2024 bill also received approval.
In infrastructure, the government plans to construct a 189-km outer ring road connecting Amaravati and Vijayawada, facilitating economic growth.
