New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his office in South Block on Friday, bringing up several key issues concerning the state. Following the meeting, Stalin shared with reporters the three major demands he had placed before the Prime Minister.

The first issue raised was regarding the second phase of the Chennai Metro Rail project. Stalin urged the central government to collaborate with the state government, as was done in the first phase, and requested the swift release of central funds to ensure the project’s timely progress.

The second demand pertained to the release of funds for Tamil Nadu under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA). Stalin emphasized the need for these educational funds to support the state’s efforts in improving primary education and infrastructure.

The third and crucial issue concerned the state’s fishermen, who have been facing repeated arrests by the Sri Lankan Navy. Stalin sought the Prime Minister’s intervention for a diplomatic resolution to protect the livelihoods of Tamil Nadu’s fishermen and prevent further conflicts.

Stalin arrived in Delhi on Thursday night and was welcomed by MPs TR Balu, Kanimozhi, and Delhi Special Representative SKS Vijay.
