Amaravati: The YSRCP faced a significant setback in Eluru as City Mayor Noorjahan and her husband SMR Pedababu rejoined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). They were joined by local MLA Badeti Radhakrishna (Chanti), who also returned to TDP in the presence of Minister Nara Lokesh. Along with them, several prominent Vaikapa leaders, including former EUDA chairman B. Srinivas and former AMC chairman M. Maibabu, switched allegiances to TDP.
At his residence in Undavalli, Minister Lokesh warmly welcomed the leaders back into the party, draping them in yellow scarves as a symbol of their return. Lokesh criticized YSRCP for not learning from its previous electoral defeat and accused the party of spreading negative propaganda against the coalition government. He reaffirmed that the coalition would fulfill all its election promises.
Eluru MLA Badeti Chanti expressed his willingness to collaborate with those committed to Eluru’s development. He accused Alla Nani of abandoning YSRCP activists and resigning from the party, and indicated that more YSRCP members would soon join TDP.
Eluru Mayor Noorjahan, who had previously switched to YSRCP under special circumstances, admitted that she found no opportunity for development in that party. She revealed that around 40 corporators are preparing to join TDP soon.
