Chandigarh: In a significant move, the Haryana government has decided to implement a 10 percent reservation for firemen recruited under the Agnipath scheme in various state government jobs. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced that this reservation will apply to posts such as police constable, mining guard, jail warden, forest guard, and special police officer. Additionally, age relaxation and other concessions will be provided.
“Our government has decided to offer a 10 percent reservation for firemen in the recruitment of constable, mining guard, forest guard, jail warden, and special police officer posts. Alongside a 5 percent reservation in Group C posts, we will grant age limit exemptions in Group C and D posts. For the first batch of firemen, there will be a five-year age relaxation. Furthermore, we will provide interest-free loans up to Rs 5 lakh for those who wish to start their own businesses,” stated CM Saini in a press conference.
While opposition parties criticize the Agniveer scheme for allegedly disadvantaging the youth, the Haryana government aligns with the Union Home Ministry’s directive to reserve 10 percent of jobs in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), BSF, and RPPL for ex-firemen. This initiative underscores Haryana’s commitment to prioritizing employment opportunities for firemen.
