Srisailam: The Srisailam Reservoir is experiencing a significant inflow of floodwater due to heavy rainfall in the upper catchment areas. In response to the increased flood flow, authorities have raised three of the reservoir’s gates by 10 feet each to release excess water downstream. As of 3 PM, the reservoir’s full water level is 885 feet, with the current level at 878.90 feet. The Srisailam Reservoir has a total storage capacity of 215.81 TMCs, with 182.61 TMCs currently in storage.
The inflow into the reservoir is measured at 467,210 cusecs, while the outflow is 82,738 cusecs. Kurnool Chief Engineer Kabir Basha reported that three gates were lifted to manage the high flood flow. Water was released at a rate of 27,000 cusecs from each of the raised gates, totaling 81,000 cusecs directed towards Nagarjuna Sagar.
The heavy rainfall and subsequent floodwater release have drawn crowds to witness the spectacle, including the impressive sight of Krishnamamma trampling the paravals.
