Amaravati: Nara Bhuvaneswari, wife of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, has extended her support to the relaunch of Anna Canteens by donating Rs 1 crore from the NTR Trust. The canteens, which offer meals at a subsidized rate of Rs 5, are being relaunched on Independence Day, Thursday.
During a ceremony at her residence in Undavalli, Bhuvaneswari handed over the donation cheque to Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana. She praised the initiative as an “august programme” that addresses the basic need of feeding the hungry at an affordable cost. Bhuvaneswari highlighted that the Anna Canteens are in line with the vision of TDP founder and her father-in-law, the late N.T. Rama Rao, whose mission was to provide food, clothing, and shelter to the poor.
She expressed her gratitude to the state government for implementing welfare programs that enhance the living standards of the underprivileged and hoped that more such initiatives would be undertaken. Bhuvaneswari emphasized the importance of Anna Canteens in supporting daily-wage earners and laborers, ensuring they have access to nutritious meals.
