New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, IT, and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Wednesday, seeking the establishment of a defence cluster in the state. During the meeting at Rajnath Singh’s residence, Lokesh detailed the developmental initiatives undertaken since the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) came to power in the state.
Highlighting the potential for large-scale employment, Lokesh emphasized the importance of Andhra Pradesh in the defence sector and urged the Centre’s cooperation in setting up defence manufacturing units. He also briefed Rajnath Singh on the progress of key projects such as Amaravati’s capital development and the Polavaram project, crediting the Centre’s support in bringing the state back on track after what he described as the previous government’s financial mismanagement.
Lokesh expressed gratitude for the Union Government’s assistance in overcoming the ₹10 lakh crore debt burden inherited by the current administration. He reaffirmed the TDP-led government’s commitment to aligning Andhra Pradesh’s growth with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Vikasit Bharat. Rajnath Singh assured full support for the state’s development.
